I don’t know if you are like me. Either way keep reading. If you spend more than 15 minutes each day, reading email you are wasting time. I realized that I was spending way too much time looking at email, then clicking links in the email to be distracted by junk.
Solution: I spend a few minutes each day delisting myself from lists. And finally I am starting to notice a difference in the amount of time I spend. This really does work. Believe me, if you find yourself needing some information just go “Google” it.
Truth: People marketing webinars, tele-seminars, online courses, are not the problem. They are only doing what they need to do in order to grow their business. You and I are our own problem by not focusing on what we truly want to accomplish.
Action: If you have done your goals for 2013 already, you might feel overwhelmed, but you can take control of your time so you can focus on writing more, publishing more, and building your empire.
After you download it please like and tag it as well. Of course reviews will be appreciated. Please help me make this available to others by sharing this message.
At this point, I just want to encourage anyone sitting on the fence about getting started, STOP. If you die before you get it done, you will be another statistic who takes all their gifts to the grave.
Here is one of my current projects. The guys on the cover are my grandsons. And yes they do love basketball. My son-in-law is the author. I worked with him on this writing project which will be a series.
All I can tell you is that if you are waiting for the perfect time, place, or you think you can’t. STOP IT. All of us have a story to tell, there are people with the skill set to help you bring it to life.
So what are you waiting for, join my list as this will be published on Amazon. I’ll send you a notice of the free kdp days. Now back to my other projects.
I launched my book on the 5th with KDP and it did okay for downloads. However, here are some tips to implement prior to your launch.
Make sure you have a an ebook cover. Although you can load your book up to Amazon without one, before you launch you definitely want to have a snazzy cover. There are many places where you can get software to create one or you can use a site like Fiverr for outsourcing.
If you utilized CreateSpace for it’s print on demand, they have a great ebook cover option in its platform. It’s pretty easy to follow and there are several videos, and support if you need help.
Have several reviews for your book before you launch, as that will provide social evidence of the quality of the book. There are a number of legitimate ways you can get a review for your book that are whitehat.
Write a good description for the book, that clearly tells people why they should want to read it.
I am onto my next project, a children’s picture book which will be published in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
It was ironic that I just recently read an article from Jim Rohn entitled, “Don’t Be A Complainer”. It was ironic because, I had the experience of everyone I encountered this particular day was complaining. OMG! It was as if, I was wearing a sign saying “Complaint Stool – Come over and sit down”.
In Jim’s article he refers to complaining as a deadly disease of attitude when if let loose it will conquer you. Yes there is room for legitimate complaining, but if when you enter a crowd and people find a reason to leave, stop and check out what changed in the atmosphere. Nobody like to hang out with a complainer. It’s draining. He states that complaining will lock you out of more opportunities than you can image. Then Jim connects his message to a story from the Old Testament and the Children of Israel and how they complained after leaving Egypt and never made it to the Promised Land.
….. So back to the folks that were complaining. Here is what I did:
I countered everything they said negative with something positive.
I just listened hoping they would stop.
I moved away from the. Dang-it they just followed me.
I finally let them have the last word and guess what. They left.
After this encounter I was drained, but it reminded me of a few sayings.
“A person can’t argue with themselves”, “It takes 2 to tango”
It was a great reminder for myself as we all do complain at one time or another to be mindful of my words, and my actions and their impact on others.
Like any busy person, I got a little sidetracked. Just a tad. Okay a lot. I’m back on track and here’s my update. I am using a process that appears to be really good. At this point I can’t say it works or give total credibility to the product since I’m in the middle of my own promotional process.
I’ve decided to make this book a KDP selection which you will be able to download it for free on October 5, 2012.
The Kindle Book free download day will also be promoted to the top 10 kindle sites. Here is the link to the book:
Oh, and in case you are wondering if you make money with the free kdp day – you don’t, but your book can get into the hands of a lot of other folks who will share it with their friends. Then there will be folks who just buy it because they want it in their personal library.
Enough about me, are you making progress? Have you not only decided to think about that awesome book inside of you, but also take some action and get started. If not, stop reading stuff, turn off the television, get off the phone and get going.
I’ll tell you what happened on Saturday October 6th.
I received my revised proof and I like it much better. Basically, I changed the color of the cover. However, I haven’t started my marketing campaign to promote the book on kindle. What am I waiting for, you might be wondering.
1. I need to decide if it will be KDP
2. Which book sites I will offer the download for free, and doing what is required to participate on those sites
3. Identifying any appropriate Facebook Groups.
4. If my timing is right to test the sale on some other sites.
So, to help me I purchased some information on promotional strategy for kindle that has quite a few steps I didn’t have in my plan. I am also working to maximize my book description, and author page as well.
“Are You Kidding Me” will cover personal rantations (my made- up word), or things that have occurred that might make your head stand up on your head.
Well this week, someone posted on Facebook some information from their place of employment. Basically they were responding to another individual on Facebook about how they didn’t understand why they were in trouble. Their friend took a picture of some private information from their place work, hid the names, then put a picture of it on Facebook.
Privacy violation. Employer hysteria. When given feedback, they replied that it wasn’t the persons real information. However, the does not eliminate the problem. So, I explained to them that they were at work, on company time, posting company images on Facebook. Even if they actually did not violate anyones’ privacy, the very act of what they did puts them in jeopardy of being reprimanded. Furthermore, the person who they were pranking, could contact the employer and complain. With the level of technology, and cameras it is very easy to track everything that is done in any environment.
Clearly, although they thought it was funny, there could be serious repercussions. ” Are you kidding me!” was my response.
